Solo show at Bräuning Contemporary
Lukasz Furs uses „found footage“ as an inspiration for his series of works – pictures striking him on Google or other search engines, which find their way into the artist’s personal archive. This digital pool provides the basis for his collages, distorted and abstracted beyond recognition using photoshop. Their content appears no longer perceptible thus symbolizing the speed of the inconceivable amount of pictures permanently confronting the digital society. The artist’s new show imitates the aesthetics of a fashionably designed pop up store: consumer friendly, photogenic, volatile.
Lukasz Furs, born in Tuchola, Poland, in 1983, studied painting and sculpture with Anselm Reyle and Gereon Krebber at HFBK Hamburg. His works were shown at numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad, most recently in an exhibition at Funkhaus Berlin curated by Johann König. He lives and works in Hamburg and Berlin.
